New Registration is limited to students who have declared the following degrees under the 2024 catalog:

  • Applied Health
  • Applied Business
  • Communication
  • Family and Human Services
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Software Development

Note: PathwayConnect Students who have declared any of the above degrees and EC3 students who are dual enrolled in one of the above degrees may use the New Registration.

If you have not chosen a degree or have chosen anything other than the degrees mentioned above, please use the registration instructions found here.

Preparing to Register

Step 1: Open your Program Plan (found here)
Step 2: Use your Program Plan to choose the courses you'll need for this block. All courses you see listed for the term that applies to you must be registered for.
PC103 students: Please ensure that the course you add in connection with your PC course is your Introductory Certificate Course. It must have the word Introductory in the name of the course.

Note: Block Order tells you which block comes first for you, not when the block starts in the year.

  • Block Order 1 = your first seven-week block at BYU-Pathway.
  • Block Order 2 = your second block, and so on.
Example: If you begin PathwayConnect in Term 6 (October), that October block is still Block Order 1 for you, so you take the courses listed under “1.”
*Make sure you know which Term you are going to register for.

Register

Step 1: Log In

  • Go to the Student Portal.
  • Enter your username and password.
  • Click Sign In.

Step 2: Check for Holds

  • On the Home page, find the Holds & Alerts box in the top right corner.

  • If you have a hold:
    • Click on Holds & Alerts to see your holds.
    • Follow the instructions (such as paying a balance or updating an endorsement).
    • Complete the tasks and refresh the page to confirm the hold is gone.

Step 3: Go to the Registration Page

  • Click Academics in the left menu.
  • Click Class Schedule.

It's unlikely, but you may see a page like this:

  • If you see this message rather than the Get Started message below, follow the link for instructions on how to Re-Select Your Degree.

More likely, you will see a page like this:

  • From the Class Schedule page, click Get Started.

Step 4: Select Your Program Version and Term

  • On the registration page, you will be invited to select your term and check your registration status.
  • If you see a drop-down menu arrow next to your program, you will need to ensure you are choosing the correct program to continue registration in. Make sure you pick the one that says PathwayConnect. Choosing the wrong version will prevent correct registration.

  • Click REGISTER near the bottom of the page. A new window will open.

Step 5: Select Your Courses

  • Use the search box at the top right of the All Courses box. Type the course name or code to find your course.

  • For Religion Courses: You will choose the day and time for you to meet with your class in the religion gathering over Zoom. When your course appears, look in column 5 (Schedule) to find a gathering day and time that works best for you. Attendance at this gathering is mandatory.

A RELIGION GATHERING IS NOT THE SAME AS YOUR PATHWAYCONNECT GATHERING.

WHILE IN PC101 AND PC102, YOU SHOULD HAVE 2 GATHERINGS PER WEEK

ONE (1) GATHERING FOR RELIGION - You will choose your day and time while registering for the course.

ONE (1) GATHERING FOR PATHWAYCONNECT - You will choose your day and time in a different part of your student portal.

  • For PC & Intro Certificate Courses: Choose the first course at the top. You do not need to choose a specific day or time.

  • Click the green plus (+) to select the course. Check that the code and name are correct in columns two and three.

  • A new box will appear called Selected Courses. The course you have chosen will be seen there. Continue selecting the courses you planned. You can select up to 4 courses per block.

  • If your course has a co-requisite or pre-requisite, a pop-up will tell you which course you need to add. If you do not complete this step, the system will not let you register for that course but will allow you to move forward with the other courses chosen.

  • Once you have selected your courses, look over your chosen courses to verify they are the ones you want for this term.
    • These choices can be changed later if you decide to remove one or more.
  • When ready, click Register/Drop in the top right of the Selected Courses box. This will get these courses ready for registration.

IMPORTANT: You are not registered until you finish the next steps.

Step 6: Complete Your Registration

  • In the bottom right corner of the Selected Courses box, click Register

Step 7: Get Confirmation

  • Look for a green banner showing that your registration was successful.

  • After you see the green banner, click Close Window in the top right.

Step 8: Verify Classes Tile

  • Return to the Portal Home page.
  • Check the Classes tile in the bottom right to make sure your courses show up correctly.

Note for EC3 learners: If you are dual-enrolled in an online degree in one of these degrees or you repeated EC3 earlier and already declared one of these degrees, your registration is the same as online degree students. You will use the new registration experience. If the system tells you to re-select your degree, do that first and then return to this guide.
