Instructions How to Register for Certificate and Degree Courses
Overview
This article explains how to register for certificate and degree courses and how to add more courses if the incorrect courses are listed.
Instructions
Step 1: Review your Degree Progress Audit
Go to Academics > Degree Progress Audit.
Select the certificate or degree you are working toward in the box next to View by Enrollment.
Review your Course List to see which courses you have completed with a passing grade.
Under Current Program, find your program version and catalog year. (You will need these in the next step!)
Need help? See the article “How to use your Degree Progress Audit.”
Step 2: Find your Program Plan
Go to the Academic Catalog at catalog.byupathway.edu.
Go to All Catalogs in the top menu. Select the catalog year from your degree progress audit.
Click Explore Degrees. Find your program version (e.g., “Applied Health [Bachelor]”).
Select your Program Plan at the top of your catalog page. Consider bookmarking, downloading, or printing it for easy access.
Step 3: Use your Program Plan
A Program Plan shows the courses that are required for your degree and the order we suggest you take them in (because of prerequisites).
Use your Degree Progress Audit and unofficial transcript to identify which courses you have successfully completed. Note or mark these on your Program Plan.
Identify which courses you should take next. (For example, if you have completed all the courses in rows 1–12 of your Program Plan, you should take the courses in row 13 during Block 5, the courses in row 14 during Block 6, and so on.)
PART 2: REGISTER FOR COURSES
Step 1: Add/drop courses in your Class Schedule
In your student portal, go to Academics > Class Schedule.
Click Next Term on the right side of the page to view “2025 Term 5.”
If the courses listed are correct, click the blue Register button. Your courses will show a green Registered label next to them.
If you need to remove a course, select Remove Course.
Skip Step 2 if your courses are all correct
Step 2: Adjust courses, if any are incorrect
On the Class Schedule page, click “Register for additional courses.”
Type the course code and name you need in the search bar (e.g., BUS129 - Office Procedures, REL 275A - Teachings and Doctrine of the Book of Mormon A). The course code is listed on your Program Plan.
Click the Register button.
Repeat this process for any additional courses you need (up to 4 courses max).
If you get an error, follow the instructions in the error message.
Click Go Back to Class Schedule.
Your newly added courses will show as Registered in green.
If you need to drop a course, select Drop Course. In the window, click the checkbox next to any courses you want to drop. Click Confirm.
Step 3: Verify your registered courses
Click the BYU-Pathway logo to return to your student portal home page.
Find your registered courses in the Classes tile.
