Ecclesiastical Endorsement Steps

Step 1: Sign into your Student Portal.
Step 2: On the left side panel, click "Documents"
Step 3: Click on "Ecclesiastical Endorsement"

Once you've gotten into the Endorsement section you'll see a screen that will show you the status of your Endorsement and instructions on what you will need to do to move through the rest of the process. If you have questions about what is happening with your Endorsement, this will be the best place to go to tell you what you need to do next.

There are very slight differences between students who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and students who are Friends of The Church. So, the experiences will be outlined individually.
Note: If you have ever been a baptized member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you must complete the steps as a member of The Church.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

Step 4: Ensure your Membership Record Number (MRN) is connected to the Church Account you've used for your Student Account.
  1. Log in to your account at ChurchofJesusChrist.org
  2. Navigate to "Account Settings"
  • If you find that you do not have a connected MRN
    • Select "Membership" and follow the prompts to input your MRN.
Step 5: Click "Begin My Endorsement"
Step 6: Contact your Bishop or Branch President to set up an interview. Consult with your Leader about who you'll need to ask to set up your second interview with one of your Stake or District Leaders.
Step 7: Meet with a member of your Stake or District Presidency.
Final Step: Check back to your Status Page frequently to make sure your Endorsement has been cleared and your hold has been removed.

Friends of The Church:

Step 4: Click "Begin My Endorsement"
Step 5: You can choose to meet with your own Faith Leader or a Latter-day Saint Bishop/ Branch President in your area.
  • If you choose your own Faith Leader, there is a document that you will need to print out and take to them. The document has a series of questions you will discuss with your Leader. Once you have completed your visit, your Leader will need to use the email address at the bottom of the page to send their response to have it recorded.
  • If you choose to meet with a Latter-day Saint Bishop/Branch President you will be offered a Meeting House Locator tool so you can find a Bishop in your area. Once you find and choose a Bishop, you will be shown a way to contact them. It will be your responsibility to contact them and set up a meeting.

Step 6: Once your first interview is complete and recorded, you will be contacted by a BYU-Pathway Chaplain. If you have provided us with a WhatsApp number they will use that. If you have not added WhatsApp, please check your email (including junk and spam folders).

Final Step: Check back to your Status Page frequently to make sure your Endorsement has been cleared and your hold has been removed.
